Sunday!

Hello everyone,

Today's story involves a 24"X36" poster of this image. The other day, I went online and splurged. I'm sure a few of you out there have done this. But in just one sitting, I bought this poster from a nice store named 10th Planet in Essex, England through our mutual friend the Internet.

The reason this is big news is because I rarely buy posters. Unlike your kid sister who has Justin Timberlake posters sloppily hung all over her walls, when I buy a poster, it's usually a marriage till death. For instance, the last time I bought a poster was in 1999 when Michael Jordan announced his retirement. Just like the MJ poster years before, I'm having this Doctor Who poster custom-framed at Hobby Lobby. So, years from now, my library will have these two posters on the wall for all to see.

I wonder if I'll regret this later? If you had to have a poster or a piece of artwork on your wall for the rest of your life, what would it be?

buying a wall poster is similar to getting a tatoo... you can only get it removed with a laser if you change your mind about it later.

doesnt it seem like laser should be spelt laZer? or is it? am i spelling it wrong?

i get my 's' and 'z' mixed up now. they do that in england. crap. who am i?

I thought until my brain hurt. And then thought some more. Yet still... I come up with cliche only. so instead... I do not have a poster up-- I have a map of the world though. It is beautiful. I love to travel as do my friends. People who come to our house have the option to add push pins to the map where they have visited. I have a map full of pins and a head full of stories. The only continent still naked-- Australia. Someone must go for the sake of the map.

Here's the thing. You have to marry the poster because it is so bloody expensive to have it framed at Hobby Lobby. The cost of framing is one of the big mysteries in life to me--why, in the world is it so expensive?!--is the art of framing so esoteric and complex that only a sacred few are initiated into the craft?

I don't know what poster I would have up for life, but the last poster I had framed at Hobby Lobby was a Klimt print of the biblical figure Judith. This was 1998 and it cost something like $175 to frame. I just don't get it...it's not even a fancy frame.

mandee, one time I saw the antique show in which a lady who brought an old picture with just normal looking frame around it. The picture-drawing wasn't valuable at all, but the frame itself was worth about $100,000. It's like the supporting actor or actress is more attractive than the main character. I have maps like holly does. I have a world map and US map. I marked all the placed where I've been. I still get mixed up with the state and the city name.

I loved the Justin Timber lake comment on your post. I am a fan of architectural art. I have no posters that have been framed I do have black and white artwork of skylines and different buildings but not a lot becasue my apartment is small. it sounds as if you take a lot of time before making a purchase of art so I am sure it will be along and happy marriage.
